COCONUT AND PEANUT CHUTNEY

My H loves this chutney so much.... Actually, his mom makes it sooooo good.... :)


INGREDIENTS:

1. coconut                    -      1/4th cup

2. peanuts                     -      1 cup

3. fried chana dal/ vepina senaga pappu/ split chick peas   -  1/4th cup

4. green chillies           -       5

5. jaggery                     -       1 tbspn

6. tamarind                   -       marble sized

7. salt                             -       to taste

8. water                         -       as needed

for tempering:

1. pachi senaga pappu/ chana dal          -         1tbspn

2. black gram/ urad dal/ minapa pappu  -        1 tbspn.(optional)(I din't add here )

3. Dry red chilles                                    -         2

4. Garlic pods                                         -          2

5.mustard seeds                                       -        1 tspn

6. cumin seeds                                         -        1 tspn

7. curry leaves                                         -           7

PROCEDURE:

1. Take a pan and heat it.

2. add a tspn of oil and fry peanuts.


3.After they get fried, add green chillies, chana dal and coconut.

4. Fry for 2mins and allow it to cool.

5. Now grind all these with the remaining ingredients . Add water if the mix is too thick.




6. Now head a kadai for tempering.



7. Add a tspn of oil.

8. After a minute, add chana dal.



9. once they r fried well, add red chillies and garlic pods.



10.Now add mustard and cumin seeds.

11. Once they splutter, add curry leaves.



12. Now add this to the chutney and serve with idlis , uthappams and dosas.
