1. To cook toor dal fast....... while cooking, put a pinch of turmeric powder and two drops of oil in it....

2. add few drops of oil while cooking rice , which makes rice fluffy and unsticky

3. Add salt while cooking green leafy vegs, so that they don't lose thier colour

4. put chopped plaintain, brinjal in water/ butter milk to prevent it from colouring.

5. If you have sand stones in rice, add a spoon salt to it and soak them in water for 10mins. they will dissolve in water..

6.add a small ginger piece while cooking cabbage.it will prevent bad smell

7.Apply oil to hand while chopping some vegs like panasa pandu.

8. To lessen stickiness, chop ladys finger in buttermilk.

9. Put potatoes in cold water before chopping if potatoes are soft.

10. To prevent tears while choppong onions: 
  • light a candle besides u.
  • put onions in fridge for 15mins before chopping.
  • soak onions in water for 30mins before chopping.
11. When you are grinding ural dal in MIXIE , add fridge water to make batter fluffy.

12. Add lime juice to wet rice before cooking to make rice look white.

13. When rice becomes too soft, add grated carrot and mis and put lid for 10mins. rice will become
     fluffy

14. Add milk instead of water while making chapatis... it will make them soft .

15. If you end up with more salt in your curry , add cut potatoes for a while. potatoes will absorb the  excess salt .

16. While making Ghee/clarified butter , add a small potato piece, 2 curry leaves to get nice aroma...

17. To peel off the layer on Garlic , just apply oil on it and let it dry......

18.Just dry fry Garlic in a pan.... layer comes off easily.

19. Cut lemon only after 15imns , after taking out from fridge... otherwise you will not get gud juice.

20. If you want less juice from lemon, then do not cut it. Just pierce it with a nail or screw driver and squeeze the juice u want. Put the lemon in fridge and use it later....

21.If you cut brinjals into the water with which u washed rice, they will not chagne colour.

22. While cooking potatoes , raddish , taro root, Yam etc , put a lid on pan.

23. while cooking Vegetables such as ladysfingers, Plaintain, bottle gaurd , broad beans, Tindora, You should not keep lid.

24. Add a tomato, 2 pieces of drum sticks and some coriander leaves to your RASAM to make it more flavoursome

25. To prevent milk from curdling, add a pinch of eating soda or pudhina leaves to it.

26. To avoid dosas sticking to the pan, cut an onion and rub it on the pan before preparing dosa.

27. Mix 2 tspns sooji/upma ravva and 2 spoons maida/all purpose flour to the wheat flour while making PURIs . It will make them tasty and crispier.

28. Add some sugar while boiling Green peas to retain its colour.

29. To make pakoras crispire, sprinkle salt over onions and toss them well, then add it to the besan flour.

30. For soft chapathis, add 1cup curd, 1 soft banana to 1/2 kilo chapathi flour(wheat flour).
